The first victory of the tournament and a tidy, efficient victory for a well-drilled South Korean side. The Greeks however were mostly awful, lacking any sort of creativity, and a few potshots from Gekas apart, no threat up front. The first goal was from a set piece, poor marking and a dodgy Greek flick-on allowing Lee Jung-Soo to tap in from close range; the second was a clever bit of pressing by Park Ji-Sung to rob Vyntra, then a snaking run past the defenders before tucking it away.

South Korea were fit and well-organised, playing lots of nice short passes and waiting for the Greeks to inevitably make a mistake. Greece were shabby and turgid, desperately unable to create anything. It was like watching an English side play away in the UEFA Cup in 1995. If the Koreans keep as organised as this they might be able to get past Nigeria to make second place. Likewise, Greece look like they’re heading home already, and we won’t miss them.
